LOVE, Love the trees! All of them! I am going to have to "steal" these ideas. Are they hot glued on styrofoam forms?

The candy are all hot glued and the ribbon are just pinned! Yes, classic styrofoam cones is what was used for the candy except the red hot tree and candy cane trees which is from a set I bought on oriental trading (scrapbook section) that is cardboard. But it would have worked on the floral cones too! Trick with the red hots is to do small areas with hot glue, just drop on the red hots and don't try to be perfect and then immediately dump red glitter to fill in around the candy. Hold it for a second then shake off the excess glitter and repeat. My sister tried to do a red hot tree but with symmetry and it did NOT work--just have fun with that one! Glad you liked them-thanks for visiting!

Kier, I will probably steal many of these ideas, but next year, when I have more time and my own house to decorate. This year's decorations were basic and what I had left over from our house in Indiana. Most of it worked (garland, lights, etc), but we need more. ~Tami

I'm sorry I'm so late to visit, but I just now saw you added your link to my blog party. I'm glad I did because I just LOVE everything you did, from the front door on in. Gorgeous. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and here's to a very happy new year! :-)

WOW!! You are amazing!! I love the ribbon trees and the candy trees. I wish I had been there for the waffle bar too. Your frames in the staircase are wonderful too. I've always wanted to hang pictures in my staircase but I've been afraid the kids would knock them down when they run up and down.

Happy New Year!!!

do you coat the candy trees in anything to keep them from getting nasty while in storage? Those are SO cute!!!!!!!

Hi - I just found your blog through Today's Creative Blog and I love your house! I have a question about a paint color, I love the green that is in your kitchen the photo with the island showing. Could you tell me what that color is? I would like to pick up a sample and try it out in my office, as I am wanting to paint it green. Thanks so much!

Hi everyone! To answer a few questions, no I have never treated my candy trees. Ever touch a piece of candy with too much glue? It starts to run the color and makes a big mess. So I've been too scared to spray them! I treat them like precious children though. :) I stored them only once, from 07-08 and am attempting to do it again. I wrap them in wax paper then cover tightly with a plastic bag and tape it shut then do it again and tape that shut as well. They I refuse to let my kids have use of their entire closet so that mommy can store her precious crafts in the A/C! When I put clothes away, I randomly check them and had NO issue this past year. So we'll see how they hold up this time! Oh, the pretty mini candy cane tree that looks so hard (because it was), I knocked it over and broke it to bits! :( So I'll be making that again but will try to make it bigger this time! I'll show you how that goes in the fall!

craftmom--I had to investigate but found it! I had a friend borrow my precious paint swatch and thankfully she still has it! The color is Revere Green #8144m. Now, this was a duron color years ago and then it went to Sherwin Williams and I don't know that it is on anyone's paint swatches now? BUT many of the better stores keep old fans and store codes in their computer so you should be able to find it. If you do a search online, it comes up on a page that stores every color swatch known to man! Funny thing is, I am drawn to strong color. I started pretty bright and kept adding swatches to a piece of drywall during construction. The Revere Green looked gray next to what I started with but when I held up fabrics, it was amazing! So I did it and it is truly PERFECT--fresh, soft, bold but subtle and neutral and classic! So when you see the sample and think it looks gray, I promise it isn't!
